Interestingly enough, the Monoprice Voxel doesn’t ship with an SD card, USB stick, or any other memory device. ©3DWithUs – Photo: Andrew Sink Test Print Test Print Benchy Sliced with default settings, the 3DBenchy acted as a suitable demo model, and I would have preferred to see a model like this included with the Voxel. While this model works well to demonstrate the functionality of the printer, it falls short of the demo prints included on printers like the Monoprice Mini Delta V2 which includes multiple small models that show functionality while creating fun and engaging prints for beginners. As advertised, printing this model results in a rectangle that measures roughly 20mm x 20mm x 10mm. The Monoprice Voxel includes a single demo print loaded in the printer, an uninspiring rectangle with the filename “20mm_Box-PLA.gx”. PolarCloud is designed with education in mind, and allows students and educators to share models and submit print requests within a classroom. Included in the price of the Voxel is a free 1-year premium subscription to PolarCloud, a cloud-based platform that provides the ability to use the webcam integrated into the printer for live print monitoring, a community for sharing prints, and access to STEAMTrax lesson plans for integrating 3D printing into a classroom setting. Flexible build platform on Monoprice Voxel The heating element for the Voxel is located underneath the platform, and the enclosure of the machine retains the heat during printing. The platform itself is a removable flexible metal platform that can be bent, allowing parts to detach effortlessly without the use of tools. This system works well, and it’s intuitive enough that most beginners shouldn’t have any difficulty calibrating the printer. The Monoprice Voxel has a guided calibration assistant that allows users to automatically move the nozzle between points on the platform and manually set the offset into memory. It’s disappointing that this feature can’t be used with the default software, as there’s really no reason mechanically that the webcam can’t be accessed during printing. The Voxel has an integrated webcam built into the side of the printer, but it’s not accessible through the FlashPrint-MP software and can only be used with the premium subscription tier of PolarCloud. This cavity doesn’t allow for a full-size spool of material, only smaller spools such as the included 500g spool of transparent red material. The filament is kept inside the enclosure and held in place on an integrated spool, which can be accessed via a door on the side of the machine. This is ideal for printing large or dense parts which may warp or deform during printing if suddenly cooled. During this review, I noticed that the enclosure retained heat very well, allowing the parts to remain at a consistent temperature during printing. Monoprice advertises the Voxel as being able to print ABS material, something that is accommodated by this enclosed build volume. The Voxel has an enclosed build volume, and the build platform is completely contained within the shell of the printer. According to Monoprice, the original name for this machine was Vector, and some early units still carry this branding. The system that was sent for review was labeled “Monoprice Vector” on the box as opposed to “Monoprice Voxel”, and the manual had the same branding on it. The printer has dual linear rods on the X axis, as well as a dual Z axis with a motor and a threaded rod on each side. ©3DWithUs – Photo: Andrew Sink Monoprice Voxel Extruderįor anyone who has built a DIY kit printer like the Monoprice Joule, this is a welcome relief and a much faster way to get up and printing without too much effort. The printer is fully assembled from the factory and there is virtually no assembly required, just insert the filament and plug in the power cord. The Monoprice Voxel ships in a large box with corrugated cardboard inside the printer, protecting the build platform and the hot end assembly. The Voxel is a rebrand of the Flashforge Adventurer 3, a 3D printer originally released in 2019 that has seen various upgrades and variations throughout the years. With a presence at 44 airports in 40 cities (as of publish time), this is probably the biggest off-site airport parking company in the US. An off-site airport parking lot will almost always give you a much better deal, and there are frequent shuttles to and from the airport, so you shouldn't have to wait long. It might be nice to drive into the airport parking lot and walk to your terminal, but there are two problems with this approach: it can be very expensive, and the lot might be full. (Photo by izusek/Getty Images) Offsite Parking Companies Interestingly, the more expensive Citi Prestige card defines travel more narrowly, so you'll only earn 3x points on purchases made at airlines and hotels, so don't use it for airport parking and expect to earn bonus points. If you have a Citi Premier® Card, you'll earn 3x points on travel including parking lots and garages. Plus, the Sapphire Reserve's $300 annual travel credit can be using toward parking. Chase quite generously counts parking lots and garages as travel, so you'll earn 3x points on the CSR and 2x points on the CSP. There are two Chase credit cards you'll want to consider for parking: Chase Sapphire Reserve and Chase Sapphire Preferred Card. Want to drive your own car to/from the airport? Use a multi-layered approach to maximize your savings and earnings. That's especially true if you travel with any frequency, as most airport parking companies run their own loyalty programs - and, to sweeten the deal even further, you can often earn bonus points for your spending by using the right credit card. Of course, there are always cabs, Lyft, Uber and even shared airport transfer services, but what if you want to drive your own car? Not only is it convenient, but it can be cost-effective as well. Getting to and from your home airport can get pricey. Whether you travel a lot or a little, you know that your expenses aren't limited to airfare, hotels food and excursions. I tested PureRAW 2 by dropping raw Canon. It can work only on raw files as a stand-alone app, or as a plug-in from Adobe Lightroom. However, the exception is DxO’s PureRAW 2. So my workflow and test procedures reflect that. Many astrophotographers also choose to stack unedited original images with specialized stacking software, then apply further noise reduction and editing later in the workflow. But for my personal workflow I prefer to develop the raw files with Adobe Camera Raw, then open those into Photoshop for stacking and layering, applying any further noise reduction or sharpening as non-destructive smart filters. Most of these programs state that better results might be obtainable by using the stand-alone app on original raw files. METHODOLOGYĪs described below, while some of the programs can be used as stand-alone applications, I tested them all as plug-ins for Photoshop, applying each as a smart filter applied to a developed raw file brought into Photoshop as a Camera Raw smart object. The three test images in Adobe Camera Raw showing the Basic settings applied. For reasons explained below, I would not recommend DxO’s PureRAW 2.Other new programs, notably Topaz Photo AI and Luminar’s Noiseless AI, also need improvement before they are ready to be used for the rigours of astrophotography. While ON1’s new NoNoise AI 2023 performed fine, it proved slightly worse in some cases than its earlier 2022 version. For nightscapes and other images, Topaz DeNoise AI performed well, better than it did in earlier versions that left lots of patchy artifacts, something AI programs can be prone to.Of the group tested, the winner for use on just star-filled images is a specialized program for astrophotography, NoiseXTerminator from RC-Astro. The new AI-trained noise reduction programs can indeed eliminate noise better than older non-AI programs, while leaving fine details untouched or even sharpening them. But that does make the blog page slow to load initially. NOTE: All the images are full-resolution JPGs you can tap or click on to download for detailed inspection. Does one program stand out from the rest for astrophotography? To find out, I tested six of the new AI-based programs on real-world – or rather “real-sky” – astrophotos. How well can each program reduce noise without eliminating stars or wanted details, or introducing odd artifacts, making images worse. The new generation of programs use artificial intelligence (AI), aka machine learning, trained on thousands of images to better distinguish unwanted noise from desirable image content.Īt least that’s the promise – and for noisy but normal daytime images they do work very well.īut in astrophotography our main subjects – stars – can look a lot like specks of pixel-level noise. The Crush 35RT has a two-channel configuration. Orange has become one of the biggest amplifier manufacturers in Europe. This gave Orange the ability to create their cabSim circuit that artificially creates a bigger sound than possible. The internal electronics are tidy, neat, and contain high-quality 3D printed circuit boards. The cabinet is orange and has a white wrap over the rear panel as the chassis. It’s British, gritty, and has that exceptional mid-scooped sound. That said, the Crush 35RT has a distinct Orange sound. It doesn’t have the dynamics of a valve tube amp, but it delivers plenty of output as an alternative. Moreover, offshore manufacturing keeps costs down.Īs a result, you can now get a cheap digital amplifier that can sound just as good, or nearly as good, as a tubular amp. However, digital circuits have significantly improved. There was a time where solid-state amps couldn’t hold a candle to tubular amplifiers. It debuted in 2015 as the first solid-state severe amplifier they created with a mid-level price tag. The result of their efforts created the Crush 35RT. Over the years, Orange has improved and refined its solid-state Crush series of practice amplifiers. Overall, it’s a solid offer from a reputable manufacturer. Lastly, this Orange amplifier offers a built-in tuner. There’s also a headphone output, which allows you to plug in your headphones for silent practice. So, even though the Crush 35RT has a 1×10’’ Orange speaker (Voice of the World speaker), it sounds much more powerful. It’s an electronic circuit that emulates the power of a 4 x 12’’ cabinet. On top of this, the amplifier features Orange’s CabSim circuit. Its layout makes the Crush 35RT capable of covering old-school rock tones as much as modern metal genres. It’s enough to deliver wide-ranging tones. You can use an additional footswitch to swap between the channels. Notably, the dirty channel is highly responsive and features a massive amount of output. It works on two channels, overdrive and clean. The Orange Crush 35RT has 35watts of solid-state power. Overall, the Crush 356 RT is a top-value combo amplifier in the middle of the price bracket. The number of small portals on the sea side of the fourth island was increased from 2 to 3.The architecture shrine was removed from the first island. This granted to the game a lovely feeling of continuity, as the game is never completely "over" when an island's challenge is overcome. One of the major additions to Kingdom: New Lands since the previous game is the idea of islands and the possibility for the Monarch to migrate between them, like bird flocks migrate between lands, usually fleeing from the winter. On every island, except for the Skull Island, the Monarch can encounter signposts that will unlock new mounts, statues and hermits that can help them on their journey. If the player start a new save or manually select a different island, they'll lose everything, and start from scratch. The Monarch will also bring the content of their pouch. Each knight can also bring up to 4 additional archers from their company. When travelling to the next island, using the boat, the Monarch can bring up to 3 builders, 4 archers, and 3 knights. On the map screen, the player can confirm the travel to the next island or change the selection by tapping the left and right buttons to choose any island already unlocked, except the one the boat was rebuilt on.Īll islands have similar geography, but each successive island gets progressively larger and harder, affecting the amount of stuff that can exist in the Kingdom, including portals, vagrant camps, all sort of Kingdom structures, and unlockables. Setting sail from an island for the first time in a campaign makes the next island in sequence accessible-on the map, the clouds over it vanish. The Kingdom has to repair the boat and set sail for new lands. At this stage, all other islands on the map are covered by clouds. Don't necessarily build towers for your archers, though, because then they won't want to go anywhere else. There are six islands in total, and only the first one is available upon starting a new campaign. A single archer won't do you much good, since shots often miss, so try to gather many archers and let their combined might turn adversaries into pincushions. Make sure that you prioritize for walls and archers. If you do that, though, you won't be ready for the impending enemy invasion. When you first start playing, it can be tempting to spend your gold as fast as you can earn it, investing in workers and other such things. It's easy to accidentally do that by cutting down trees that are located along the edges of a camp, so make sure you leave those standing or you'll lose camps and the potential population growth they would have enabled. Also, make sure that you don't destroy camps. If you want a larger population in your kingdom, you'll need to find lost souls int he forest and give them coins. And when you build a wall, you'll also need to spend time strengthening it once it has been constructed, which is difficult if you put that construction off until later in the day. Otherwise, if you start a task late in the day, your people might keep working on it well into the dangerous night. Start as a day begins, and assign your tough jobs at that time.
